Instruction
Kathleen brings to teaching the knowledge she has gained from her studies with masterpainters, most notably, Philip Salvato and James Sulkowski, from whom she learned the concepts and techniques of the old masters. Other artists who have contributed to her artistic development through classes and workshops include sculptors Peter Calaboyias and Alan Cottrill, Herb Olds, Frank Mason, John DelMonte, Burt Silverman and Nelson Shanks Studio Incomminati.
Classes in still life, portraiture and landscape painting (plein-air, weather permitting) are offered. The classical (or traditional) approach, as well as a more impressionistic style, is presented.
Individual instruction is designed for all levels, from beginning to advanced. Focusing on drawing, composition, light, space and atmosphere, one becomes more aware of the world of beauty and color as one understands the principals of light defining form. Emphasis is placed on understanding the fundamentals.
There is a logical system in creating beautiful paintings.
